The first message after a quiet spell starts a half hour. Every message in the next thirty minutes is part of it, in any thread. Switching between threads inside it costs nothing more.
A meter beside the thread title says where you stand. It never ends a conversation: when the half hour is over your thread is still open and your next message starts a new one.
Why
Pay for time you used, not for how you split it up. Opening a new thread is free, and five quick questions cost the same as one.
What it won't do
- It doesn't charge per thread or per message.
- It doesn't charge twice for a send that is retried.
- It doesn't charge to start a thread or to add a document.
